Our Story

A Journey from the Forest

KAIA is where those relationships meet the rest of the world.

Where the Story Begins

KAIA was born from a love for the Amazon and a conviction that its ingredients deserve a place on the world’s finest shelves. Our founders spent years traveling through riverside communities, learning from local harvesters, and tasting fruits that most of the world had never heard of.

What started as curiosity became a mission: to build a company that respects the forest, empowers its people, and delivers unmatched quality to global partners.

One of those journeys took us deep into Maués, Amazonas — the ancestral home of guaraná — where we met Luca, a chocolatier and son of the river. For years he had been coaxing wild cacao, native guaraná and forest fruits into bars, powders and shots that tasted like the Amazon itself. His obsession with purity, his respect for the harvesters, and his refusal to compromise became the DNA of KAIA.

Today, Luca’s craft lives inside KAIA. So does the work of the families who harvest our castanha-do-Brasil, the freeze-dry lab that locks in every anthocyanin, and the cooperatives that steward the forest. Different rivers, one estuary. Under KAIA, they move as one company — one story, one standard, one origin.

In 2026, that story crosses a new border. KAIA is coming to Canada — carrying every hand, every harvest and every heartbeat of the Amazon with it.

Milestones

2018

The Beginning

KAIA was founded with a simple belief: the Amazon holds ingredients the world has yet to fully appreciate.

2020

Roots in Maués

We built our foundation in Maués — the birthplace of guaraná — working hand-in-hand with families who have cultivated wild cacao and guaraná for generations. Every pouch, bar and bottle traces back to these rivers.

2022

One House, Many Hands

Independent Amazonian makers, chocolatiers and harvesters joined KAIA as one house. Their craft, Their science and Their forest knowledge now travel the world under a single flag.

2026

KAIA Lands in Canada

KAIA opens its first North American gateway in Canada — bringing guaraná powder, wild-cacao chocolate, castanha-do-Brasil oil and rare freeze-dried fruits directly to Canadian shelves, kitchens and formulators.
